Partner Eva Marie Carney Elected Member of First Legislature For Citizen Potawatomi Nation

Washington, D.C. - Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP is pleased to announce the election of our partner, Eva Marie Carney, as a legislator in the newly-formed 16-member legislature of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. The Nation is headquartered in Shawnee, Oklahoma and the new legislature is thought to be the first of its kind to draw representatives from throughout the United States, rather than exclusively from areas immediately surrounding a tribal nation’s reservation lands.

Election results were announced on March 29, 2008. Ms. Carney will represent all of her fellow members of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation who reside in the Southeastern United States. On April 24-26, 2008, she will be sworn in to the position and participate in the Nation’s inaugural legislative session.
