Julia Lu Fu specializes in representing investment banks, broker-dealers, hedge funds and other financial institutions in the derivatives, bank loan and high-yield debt markets. Her practice focuses on derivative transactions relating to secured and unsecured loans and other debt instruments utilizing total return swaps, credit default swaps and credit-linked notes in North America, Europe and Asia. Recent notable engagements include:

• Represented a major broker-dealer and ISDA working group in drafting the ISDA-approved European Leveraged Loan Credit Default Swap template that now governs the majority of European loan credit default swap transactions;
• Representing a major broker-dealer in developing the iTraxx LevX documentation for the European loan credit default swap index product;
• Representing hedge fund in structuring, negotiating and documenting credit default swaps, total return swaps and credit-linked note transactions with loans and convertible debentures of Indian, Chinese, Indonesian and other Asian issuers.

Due to her active role in the drafting of the ISDA-approved European Leveraged Loan Credit Default Swap template, she was a speaker at the second annual Markit European LCDS Forum.

Ms. Fu also advises clients in the negotiation of U.S. and offshore master confirmations for equity swaps and contract for differences, as well as equity options, equity-linked notes, participation notes and other equity derivatives transactions.

Ms. Fu has practiced in the firm's distressed debt and claims trading practice areas where she has represented a number of clients in the purchase and sale of par and distressed bank loans, high yield debt securities and other financial claims against troubled companies in the secondary debt market.

In 2006, Ms. Fu worked at Goldman Sachs as the Chief Operating Officer of the Bank Loan Syndication and Trading Desk as a secondee.

In 2000, Ms. Fu was the recipient of the Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono award. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Ms. Fu is admitted to practice in New York and California.
