Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP is serving as co-counsel with The Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law in preparing an amici brief of behalf of former prosecutors in support of the plaintiffs' appeal in Hurrell-Harring v. State. The case involves a lawsuit filed by 20 indigent criminal defendants against New York State alleging that five New York counties have constitutionally deficient systems for providing defense services to the indigent. Oral argument before the New York Court of Appeals is scheduled for March 23, 2010. A copy of the amici brief will be posted here upon filing.
