On June 12, 2010, Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP partner Michael Friedman was quoted in The Daily Deal article "Equity's Turn: The Improving Economy Turns the Spotlight in Some Cases to Shareholders." As the economy begins to come out of recession, the article describes, equity committees have become increasingly vocal regarding recoveries due to them. Mr. Friedman provides commentary on the topic, stating that as the economy improves, valuations have increased, leading many equity holders to demand that proposed reorganization plans conceived when the economy was significantly weaker be reevaluated. He predicts that as we continue to bounce back from recession, junior creditors may become increasingly aggressive in attempting to obtain a recovery.
