Print PDF Stock Exchanges Ask SEC to Adopt a Modified Uptick Rule

The SEC has recently announced plans to consider reviving the "uptick rule" as a means of combating allegedly abusive short selling. On March 24, 2009, several U.S. stock exchanges, including NYSE Euronext and Nasdaq OMX, submitted their own version of a modified uptick rule for the SEC's consideration. This memorandum examines the exchanges' proposal.
