RK&O represents clients in venture capital investing across a broad range of sectors, including energy, financial services, gaming, insurance, life sciences, manufacturing, media, mortgage lending, pharmaceuticals and technology, both in the United States and abroad.  Our clients' investee companies range from newly formed start-ups to more established companies raising additional funds to implement strategic initiatives.  Our clients include hedge funds, private equity funds, investment banks, strategic investors and high-net-worth individuals.

We advise clients not only on the initial investment, but also on the ongoing management and development of the venture, including appropriate employee incentive programs, asset-sharing and -protection arrangements, subsequent capital raising, and the implementation of synergistic acquisition strategies.  We also represent our clients in the exit process, including IPOs and sales to strategic or financial buyers.

  • The lead investor in the initial institutional round of financing for a Turkish social networking website, and the negotiation of a subsequent investment by a strategic investor.
  • The sole seed capital provider for a Vietnamese chip manufacturer.
  • A financial investor in the early-stage equity financing of a privately held software development company.
  • The lead investor in the formation and capitalization of a U.S. finance company that was later taken public.
  • A financial investor in a company producing infrastructure for battery-powered automobile travel.
