Richard J. Lee is a counsel in the firm’s Corporate Department, with a focus on derivatives and distressed debt and claims trading. Mr. Lee specializes in credit derivative transactions, including credit default swaps and total return swaps. Mr. Lee also has experience negotiating ISDA master agreements and related collateral support documentation, as well as swaps clearing and execution agreements. Mr. Lee regularly advises lenders providing interest rate and FX swaps in connection with secured credit facilities.
Mr. Lee also represents broker-dealers, hedge funds and other financial institutions in connection with trading and investing in distressed assets, including corporate bank loans, high-yield securities, litigation claims, and claims against bankruptcy estates. Mr. Lee also regularly counsels clients in the review and analysis of credit documentation and bond indentures, and advises on bankruptcy and restructuring matters arising in connection with special situations investments.
In 2013, Mr. Lee was seconded to UBS Investment Bank, where he advised the exchange traded derivatives and swaps clearing business. Prior to joining RK&O, Mr. Lee was an associate in the New York and Hong Kong offices of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where he practiced in the M&A and private equity groups.
