Richards Kibbe & Orbe names new chairs of Corporate, Litigation practice groups

Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP announced today that partners Paul B. Haskel and Jahan Sharifi have been named co-chairs of the firm’s Corporate practice group, and that partner H. Rowan Gaither IV has been named as co-chair of Litigation practice group.  Mr. Gaither will work closely with Jeffrey Lehtman who will continue in his role as co-chair of the Litigation group.

Paul Haskel represents investment funds, investment banks, broker-dealers and other financial institutions in connection with the purchase and sale of various U.S. and international distressed assets. In addition to his new appointment, Mr. Haskel is also a co-head of the firm’s Distressed Debt & Claims Trading group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Jahan Sharifi regularly advises investment funds on a wide range of portfolio investments inside and outside of the United States. He has also been highly active in the marketplace lending space, assisting clients with business formations, investments and acquisitions in this emerging field.

Co-chairing the litigation practice, Rowan Gaither has vast experience with civil litigations, arbitrations and mediations arising out of the capital markets and financial services industries. He frequently represents the firm’s corporate clients in legal disputes involving exotic financial instruments and complex investments, with particular focus on litigations involving financial benchmarks and the issuance of residential mortgage-backed securities.  Mr. Gaither has been recommended by The Legal 500 United States in the area of General Commercial Disputes.  His co-chair, Jeffrey Lehtman, brings broad international experience to his work on complex civil and cross-border litigation, securities enforcement matters and regulatory investigations. Mr. Lehtman, who previously served as senior regional counsel for Citigroup on matters involving Latin America, has been praised by Latin Lawyer for his “deep relationships in the Latin American business community.” Among other honors, he was selected as a “National Star” in the areas of white collar crime and securities litigation in the 2017 edition of Benchmark Litigation.

Mr. Lehtman works from the firm’s office in Washington, D.C.  Messrs. Haskel, Sharifi and Gaither are based in New York.
