RK&O partner Julia Lu has been named to the Panel of Recognized International Market Experts in Finance (P.R.I.M.E. Finance), an innovative collaboration established to help resolve and to assist judicial systems in the resolution of disputes concerning complex financial transactions.
Ms. Lu is a recognized leader in the market for credit default swaps, total return swaps, credit- and equity-linked notes, equity swaps and options, and other derivatives transactions and related regulatory issues. Ms. Lu has advised and advocated for numerous derivatives end-users and intermediaries in connection with well-known CDS credit events, including Sears, Hovnanian, Windstream, iHeartCommunications, Novo Banco (the rescue bank to Banco Espirito Santo) and Caesars Entertainment, among many others. She was the lead partner on the amicus brief for the Sears CDS Determinations Committee External Review, and on one of the two briefs that led to the successful outcome in the Caesars Entertainment CDS Determinations Committee External Review.
Ms. Lu also assists leading broker-dealers and investment funds in problem solving complex, high-profile, and urgent trading issues in credit markets, and structuring and negotiating bespoke investment transactions in claims and structured credit products. In developing strategic approaches and high-level procedures and protocols for clients in secondary trading, she brings to bear her knowledge in transactional, regulatory and litigation matters and her unique experience as the acting chief operating officer of the Bank Loan Trading Desk of Goldman Sachs.
